Ketamine used as an anesthetic in surgery and occurs in the form of syringes, white powder or tablets when used as a drug. Ketamine belongs to a group of dissociative drugs which also includes DXM, nitrous oxide, PCP and prophetic sage. When mixed with alcohol, the drug becomes more dangerous. Alcohol and ketamine both affect cognition. In combination, they can lead to a rapid decrease in your ability to move or communicate correctly. This is why ketamine is sometimes used as a rape drug.
These cognitive effects can also make it more difficult for you to process how much each drug affects you, which is more likely to lead to an overdose. Not being able to move or communicate can make it impossible to ask for help.
